Using a Neurofeedback machine (Muse 2), I am able to use information from brainwave readings to propel movement, color, and form. The place I have in this process is to translate the data, either my own or other participants' sessions where this data is collected, into paintings, which act as an alternative documentation to this process. Brainwaves can be changed by emotions, reflecting on memories ( such as a wedding day or another major life event).
The data collected via a Muse to Touchdesigner communication extracts brain waves from 5 physical touch points around the head, running over the forehead and wrapping around the ears like glasses. These waves all exist on a spectrum, and can be identified from their numeric value, ranging from 1Hz <30Hz. Waves from 1-3Hz are categorized as Delta, 4-7Hz is Theta, 8-12Hz is Alpha, 13-30Hz is Beta, and <30 is Gamma.
